Car Logo Design

Cars have always been a sign of luxury and pride and they have enjoyed a rich history. Businesses related to cars have always enjoyed the attention of the people because of new designs, innovation and technology. Their emblem or signage has always been sought for creativity and uniqueness. These businesses have always enticed the speed demons using bright, bold colors, fonts and images. To add classiness, the companies have restricted themselves in using their names in the emblems. A car logo design will help you stand tall among the audience and will help you distinguish from the rest. So, it is necessary that the right kind of images, fonts and colors are used to make your mark. Make sure that you keep your emblem simple and do not use multiple colors or images to give a clutter look. There are four different kinds of logo designs that car businesses can use to develop their brand identity for marketing. Text based only: Most of the famous car businesses keep their logo text based only. These big companies set trends with their name and it is due to their massiveness that they become acceptable with a name logo. Brands such as Nissan and Ford us their name only to set themselves apart from the crowd and it is their font style that makes them memorable and distinct. Using symbols: Big brands such as BMW and Chevrolet uses symbol to make their mark. These emblems are simple yet sophisticated. Whenever drawn, these simple symbols are easily identifiable. Their simplicity has made them popular and unique. The symbol speaks of the characteristics of the brand. For example, the BMW roundel represents sporty and smart nature of the brand while its blue and white checked circle represents propellers as well as connects its back to the place where it is manufactured. Company Initials: Others such as Suzuki, Honda, Lexus and many others had only used company initials to brand themselves across the globe. These companies use a mixture of text and art to portray the meaning and ambition of the company through the curves and style of fonts. Through the usage of initials the companies have successfully set themselves apart from others. Imagery logos: Many car logos have used intricate designs to establish their brand mark. These identities create a deeper meaning when seen. Companies like Ferrari have used animals to attribute the company with the quality of the animal. The animal embellished car logo designs represent power, strength and speed, and also add a deeper meaning to the image.

Car Logos With Names

Symbols and elaborate images for car logos can be confusing. So many famous brands use the same animals or intricate images that may seem appealing at first but are actually so similar to each other that you can't tell one company apart from the other unless you're really an expert in the field. How many auto brands do you know that have used a jungle cat or a horse or a hawk's wings in their trademark? There're just too many to count. So how can you create a design for your automobile company that is easy to remember and also sets you apart from the crowd? Why not use your corporation name in the business mark? How many of us confuse the Honda trademark with Hyundai's or Mini's with Bentley's? But that won't happen if your car logos and names are the same. Remember the Ford and BMW's business image or MG's and Nissan's? The only characteristic that makes them easier to remember is their company name in their brand mark. But it's not really that easy to design a trademark with the corporation name. Since the only things that can make your car brand mark appealing are the fonts and colors, you need to make sure that you use the right ones to make your logo distinct and easy to remember. What colors to use? When using the corporation name in trademark, the rule is very simple. Use one solid color for the text and one solid color for the background. Text in silver color with a red or a dark blue background looks appealing but you can experiment with different colors as well. You can also use white colored text on a dark green background which will make your design identifiable from afar. Don't be afraid to use bright colored background but make sure you use the text color that complements the background instead of contrasting with it. What kind of fonts to use? Straight and big fonts may be easier to read from a distance but the font style that looks intricate and appealing to the customers and give your design a classic look are the curvier fonts. But make sure that the text is not too curvy that it loses its readability. You can even use the Times Roman font in italic effect or use some other professional font style with curvy effect to make sure that the text is readable and rounded at the same time. Remember the ford logo? It may just be white text on a red background, but it's the curvy font style that sets it apart from the rest. Remember the Ford business mark or the smart car logo? What shapes to use? The vehicle business image has to be enclosed in a shape, of course. The shape that is most commonly used is a circle. You can use an oval, a loose square or even the superman diamond shape to enclose your design. But make sure that your chosen shape does not have too many sides that make the mark complicated.

Car Logos With Wings

The message that any car business trademark wants to convey to its customers is one of speed, dependability, strength and style. Since cars are not only a means of communication anymore but also a symbol of class, style and advancing technology, the faster and stylish they are, the more popular they will be. Hence the same features of style, speed and high quality should be reflected in a car logo as well. The brand mark of a car corporation should be simple enough to be memorable and distinct enough to be differentiated from others. Below mentioned are some of ideas for your car business image. Use animal attributes to symbolize your company features: A car company logo should portray speed, reliability and power. The animals that are perfect to portray that message to the viewers are horses, cheetahs, bears, bulls and eagles because of their grace, strength and intimidating personality. You can use a sprinting horse to signify grace, speed and steadiness or you can use a leaping leopard to represent speed and style. You can also use an eagle's wings in your brand mark to symbolize speed and sharp sightedness or a raging bull to represent competitiveness and strength. Use the corporation name within a ring like structure: The most famous trend in car trademarks is the use of rings. The ring is a symbolization of car wheels and also adds an air of simplicity to the design which is why it is so popular. Since this shape is so flexible, it can be used in a variety of styles. For example you can use the corporation name or initial in a ring or you can put a lot of rings together or within each other creatively to symbolize your brand. You can also add symbols that signify speed and motion in your ring like structure for example; you can add a thunderbolt in the ring or wings of a hawk around the ring to depict speed. You can also use ovals or mandala like patterns to make your car logos distinct from others. Use abstracts of speed and strength in the design: Using abstracts in car firm images is another rising trend. Abstract effects give a subtle feel of the company features that makes the image interesting and eye catching. You can use abstracts of speed and style in your design for example; you can use the company initial or a car illustration with a few horizontal lines to represent speed or use a ribbon effect to symbolize style.

Famous Company Logo Designs

Why are logos so important? Think of some of the most famous company logo designs of our time. Nike is a good example, but what does that internationally recognized "swoosh" symbol coupled with a graphically enhanced depiction of the company name really do for Nike? A logo is a starting point for any form of communication in which the company engages. All marketing materials incorporate the company's identity. All advertising incorporates the company image. All promotional materials incorporate the company logo. You see the Nike swoosh on shirts, sweatshirts, hats, key chains, and a host of other promotional stuff that has nothing to do with Nike's core business: shoes. Nike can now use the "swoosh" symbol without the name and people all over the globe know its Nike. How powerful is that? Assuming your company has a positive image; mere recognition of the symbol is enough to get the job done. If it's from Nike it's got to be good no need to read.

Logos Convey the Image of the Company

Nike is a great example of a company that illustrates how company image and logo relate. Today most people think Nike and they have positive thoughts but in the not too distant past Nike got caught up in a bit of a scandal over the child labor practices in some of their international manufacturing locations. For those who were aware of this issue, the Nike logo now evoked negative images. But as many great companies do in the face of trouble, Nike responded and responded effectively. Today most people see the child labor issue as ancient history and once again the image conveys positive images.

In today's economic climate, banking logos provide more examples of how a company's overall image and its logo are intertwined. When banks like Bank of America and Chase were increasing credit lines and credit offerings, we all loved them. Spotting the BofA flag logo evoked a positive response. But if you've had your interest rates raised by these banks, how do you feel now when you see their identity? The learning point is the greatest identity in the world will not help a company with a negative public image improve that image. Let's talk about a few other famous logos and see what we can learn from them.

Famous Company Logos: FedEx, Apple Computer, and McDonald's

Apple is one of the few logos that never included the company's name. It is a rare, pure symbol only logo. Today, the Golden Arch symbol no longer needs to include the name "McDonald's" for brand recognition, but it didn't start out that way. FedEx is an example of a words only logo. The name FedEx is graphically enhanced with color, contrast, and box shapes. Some might argue that the enclosed box is actually a symbol. What we can learn from these three is that they all share common characteristics.

Common Design Characteristics

The characteristics that made these corporate logos famous can be summed up in a single word: simplicity. The value of simplicity is that it breeds functionality. All three of these logos are completely functional. They can be enlarged or reduced and reproduced in black and white without any impact on the message they convey. The evolution of the Apple logo illustrates this point. This image originally appeared with layers of different colors, but this limited its functionality. When the logo appeared on the cover of some Apple laptops, it just didn't look good.
